The Process
THE WHOLE PROCESS
Â
So, in a nutshell - what happens?
 1. Quotation. Go to the Quote page and fill in the fields. We will email you back a quote. Alternatively use our email or phone numbers to contact us to discuss your needs.
 2. Confirmation. If you wish to have Stoneguard installed, then email or phone us to nominate a date and time. We usually require around a weeks notice but you could get lucky :)
 3. On the Day - before install. The car must be thoroughly washed on that day, prior to arrival. You must remove all tar and bug pieces from the paintwork. We recommend that you have the car fully washed to ensure that your paintwork is in top shape. We can wash your car for an additional charge.
 4. On the Day - when you arrive. A) We commence cleaning the areas where the film will be installed B) we install the film on the car. The install will take approximately 5-6 hours so make sure you have some activities to planned, we can drop you to the train station nearby if you wish.
 5. Post Installation. Once we hand the car back to you, it must not be washed within the next 24 hours. Â
 6. Care and Maintenance. After 24 hours you can commence your normal maintenance process of washing and waxing. We recommend that you maintain a good cover of wax on the film to prevent any discolouration from dirty water, chemicals and insects. You should wash the film weekly using a good quality car wash, and wax the film once a month, white cars fortnightly. You may use an automotive polish occasionally to clean the film, but choose one that does not contain any cutting compound. Always test any waxes or polishes in an inconspicuous area before working on the main areas.
 7. Film Removal. When disposing of your car, you may wish to remove the film, although there should be no need to do this if the film is undamaged and has been well maintained. To remove the film lift one corner and pull slowly at 180 degrees. Large flat pieces such as a bonnet will need to be worked bit by bit. Smaller pieces can be removed just by slowly pulling the film with constant pressure. The film will not shred or tear and will usually come off in one piece (although not reusable). Normally the adhesive will be removed with the film, but if there is any adhesive left on a painted surface, you can use small amounts of methylated spirits to soften the remaining adhesive. Wipe carefully with a clean cloth to remove the adhesive while wet, it should roll into small sticky balls, and then rinse the paintwork thoroughly with water. A faint line on the bonnet will be caused by dirt build up over the years. Carefully wipe it away and you may need to apply some polish to completely remove all traces of the line.
